A Tennessee man has been convicted of robbing an Asheville bank in late 2022. The U.S. Department Of Justice says 36 year old, Paul Gordon Day entered the PNC Bank on O'Henry Avenue, the afternoon on November 9th, 2022.
Court evidence shows that Day pulled a gun on bank tellers and made off with cash before fleeing the scene. The cash had a GPS tracker embedded with it that led officers to find the stolen money inside a vehicle Day was driving on I-26.
Day was convicted earlier this week on charged of bank robbery with a weapon and pointing and presenting a gun. The bank robbery charged carries a possible 25 year sentence, the additional weapons charge carries a minimum of years. A sentencing date has not been set.
