The Highway Patrol is reporting multiple fatal collisions across the upstate, overnight. In Cherokee County around 9:20PM Wednesday, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and a moped collided at the intersection in Gaffney. The moped rider, 51 year old Lori Michelle Freeman, died at the scene.
In Anderson County just before 2AM the driver of a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup ran off River Road and struck an embankment. The driver, 23 year old Austin Chandler Allison of Gainesville, GA, died at the scene. A passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment.
And around 3:40AM Thursday on South Pleasantburg Drive near I-85 in Greenville, the driver of a 2017 Mitsubishi struck an electric scooter that was illegally operating in the roadway. The person on the scooter died at the scene.
The identity of the deceased in that crash has not been released, as of the time of this report.
