Three suspects have been sentenced following an Upstate murder in 2021. 30 year old, Jamarous Rogers of Spartanburg pleaded guilty Monday to charges of murder, arson and multiple weapons violations. The following day, Joseph English and Jaylan Whiteside entered guilty pleas to accessory to murder after the fact.

The charges stem from an incident on Blanchard Road in Spartanburg County, in November of 2021. The body of the victim Lamar Douglas Jones was found inside a vehicle that was on fire. Jones died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office determined that Rogers shot Jones while English and Whiteside helped him try and burn the vehicle with Jones inside it. Investigators were able to recover the gun used to kill Jones and said DNA from Rogers was found at the scene
