A U.S. Senator from South Carolina has made it official. Tim Scott filed paperwork Friday to enter the 2024 Presidential race. That officially makes him a candidate for the Republican nomination.
Scott is currently the only black Republican in the U.S. Senate. He has said that his rise from generational poverty to where he is today, is the realization of the American Dream.
Scott is the 2nd person from South Carolina to enter the 2024 Presidential race, after Nikki Haley declared her candidacy, earlier this year.
Scott is expected to make a formal announcement Monday, during his scheduled visit Charleston Southern University, which is his alma mater.
