Elected officials from the Upstate have come to the defense of the 9 students and three parents who were ejected from the federally funded museum. 4th District Congressman William Timmons called the move by Smithsonian employees "absolutely ridiculous" during an appearance on the Charlie James Show, earlier this week.

Timmons along with 3rd District Rep Jeff Duncan, 5th District delegate Ralph Norman, Senators Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, all have come together to write a letter demanding answers from Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch. The group of lawmakers say that Secretary Bunch has until next Thursday to respond to their letter and answer their questions in writing.
