Traffic stop in WNC puts a dent in drug trafficking

A traffic stop has put a dent in drug trafficking in one Western North Carolina County. Sheriff Buddy Harwood from Madison County says, his deputies stopped a vehicle with an expired tag and that led to the discovery of drugs and a gun in the vehicle.

The suspect identified as, Geoffrey Grant Griffey Jr. was found with a 40 caliber handgun, nearly 4 ounces of meth and almost $700 in cash, during a search of the vehicle. Griffey is charged with two counts of drug trafficking, driving with a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
