A statue has been unveiled in the honor of a historically influential Upstate figure. The City Of Greenville celebrated Lila Mae Brock during a ceremony at Unity Park in the city's Southernside Neighborhood Tuesday.
Her grandson Bryan Brock served as the MC for the event. Greenville Mayor Knox White was on hand and he says that Unity Park has a profound meaning behind it. Bryan spoke of his grandmother's legacy of bringing people together.
Lila Mae Brock moved to Greenville during the segregation era abd became a known figure in Greenville's pursuit of racial equality. At length audio of the event is below.
