Claiming they feel "betrayed" by the Olympic Committee's decision to allow transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard to compete in the Tokyo Olympics, a group of sports fans is circulating a petition that calls for her to be ousted. So far, at least 21,000 New Zealand residents have signed the petition, saying it would be unfair to other athletes to allow the 43-year-old compete in the women's division. "So many women feel betrayed," an unnamed friend of Hubbard tells the Daily Mail Australia. "Laurel should pull out of the team. "Hubbard had a long history of competing in male weightlifting competitions when, in 2012, she transitioned to a woman. A professional weightlifter, the 43-year-old Hubbard chose to transition at the age of 35. In 2015, the International Olympic Committee cleared her to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
