The trial for a Charlotte Daycare Director began Wednesday after a viral video circulated showing children being driven off in an SUV with the backdoor still open and without seatbelts on.
The incident happened in February and the Director Leslye Torrence was arrested in March. Torrence the director of Midwood Learning Center is charged with 6 counts of child abuse.
Torrence's mother issued a statement ahead of the trial saying the incident was a misunderstanding and said employees involved were fired. The trial is being held at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.
