A weekend police chase in Western North Carolina led to the arrests of two suspects and the recovery of drugs and a handgun. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to stop a vehicle Sunday in the Ellenboro Community.
The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit, before he and a passenger both exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. Both suspects, 22 year old Darien Akiel Brown and 19 year old Richard Raymazier Murray both of Forest City were taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle turned up 60 grams of fentanyl, oxycodone pills, marijuana and a pistol.
Brown is charged with trafficking heroin, eluding arrest, possession of a controlled substance and multiple weapons violations.
Murray is charged with trafficking heroin.
