Two men from the Low Country have been arrested in connection to January 6th. The U.S. Department of Justice has identified the men as 54 year old, Christopher Georgia Rockey and 61 year old, Edward Picquet Jr. of Hollywood, South Carolina.
Rockey is charged with felony assault and resisting officers and civil disorder, along with multiple other misdemeanors. Picquet is charged with felony civil disorder and multiple other misdemeanors.
Court documents say that the two men were seen on video inside the Capitol Building and helped the crowd push through the police line to move further into the building. After leaving the building, Rockey and Picquet joined what the DOJ described as a large crowd of rioters outside.
Video footage reportedly shows Rockey taking an officers riot shield and hitting the officer in the face. Rockey then allegedly grabbed another officers baton and riot shield in a separate incident.
Now nearly three years after January 6th more than 1,200 people have been charged in connection to the incident.
