Two people are dead following separate fatal crashes over the weekend. Both single vehicle wrecks happened Sunday , one in Anderson County and the other in Oconee. The first happened around 8:30 Sunday morning on Palmetto Rd near Hardwood Road in West Pelzer. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of a Toyota sedan ran off the road, causing the vehicle to overturn and then struck a tree. The driver was taken to Greenville Memorial and died there from injuries suffered in the crash.
The other collision was on Ebenezer Road near Safety Harbor Road less than 3 miles from West Union. The Highway Patrol says the driver of a Mitsibushi SUV ran off the road and hit a culvert, the driver died after being transported to Oconee Memorial. Neither driver was identified but the Highway Patrol says the driver in the West Pelzer crash was a 68 year old from Piedmont and the other driver was 41 years old and from West Union.
