Upstate firefighters, coroner's office medical examiners and arson detectives are investigating weekend house fires. Parker District firefighters are sifting for clues to the cause of the predawn blaze that claimed the lives of two people Saturday.
The victims, identified as 47 year old, Toriano Barton and 50 year old, Kimberly Lewis were found in the aftermath of a fire that swept the couple's mobile home on Brunswick Avenue in Greenville's San Souci neighborhood. It broke out shortly before 6:00 AM.
In Spartanburg County, the of fire that destroyed a vacant house with no electrical connections late Saturday night is under investigation as a possible case of arson.
A neighbor's security cam showed a dark-colored vehicle arriving in the area shortly before the fire started around 11:30 on Epton Street in Una. The video also revealed two people walking away from the house minutes before the flames broke out.
Una firefighters reported that the house was engulfed in flames when they got there. Units from Westview-Fairforest and North Spartanburg were called in to help.
