Five schools around South Carolina have garnered national honors, two of them from here in the Upstate. On Friday Morning, the announcement was made recognizing Brashier Middle College Charter High School in Simpsonville and Mitchell Road Elementary in Greenville as Blue Ribbon Schools.

The other in-state schools in the group were Gold Hill Elementary in Fort Mill, St. James Elementary in Myrtle Beach and Fairfield Magnet For Math And Science. It is the second time Mitchell Road has been named a blue ribbon school and makes them the 18th Greenville County School District member to receive the honor.
GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster said " “I am extremely proud of the students, staff and community at Mitchell Road Elementary School. This honor speaks highly of their dedication to fostering outstanding student achievement, connecting with the community, and welcoming strong parental involvement, all of which create a successful learning environment worthy of the nationally recognized Blue Ribbon.”
