Two Upstate schools have received nationwide recognition. The Sterling School in Greenville and Wren Elementary in Piedmont have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools.
The award recognizes schools in two performance categories, one being high scores on state and national testing, the other is for schools that have dramatically closed the achievement gap.
The Sterling School is now the 18th Greenville County School to receive the award, the most recent were Whittenberg and Mitchell Road Elementary schools, last year.
The National Blue Ribbon School Program is now in its 40th year of existence.
