Today more than ever high speed internet access is a necessity in everyday life. Some parts of the Upstate have been underserved in that regard, but a company called Upcountry Fiber is looking to alleviate that issue by bringing high speed access to over 100,000 addresses in Anderson County. UpCountry Fiber is a partnership between Blue Ridge Electric and Western Carolina Telephone.
On Friday, Upcountry and Anderson County announced the partnership. Blue Ridge Electric CEO Jim Lovinggood provided details of the upcoming projects. State Senator from Anderson County Mike Gambrell was on hand for the announcement and he welcomes the access these projects will provide. Comments from Lovinggood and Gambrell are below.
