A Laurens County man is charged with murder following the shooting death of his brother. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at a home on Hudson Water Road in Greer around 9AM Friday morning.

Upon arrival, Deputies located the suspect 40 year old Dustin Scott Simmons of Gray Court. He told deputies he had shot his brother in self defense. The Sheriff's Office says, that a dispute between the brothers led to the shooting.
After speaking to witnesses, investigators determined that the self defense claim was not credible. Simmons was then taken into and charged with Murder and a Weapons Violation.
