Upstate man charged after multi-county chase in stolen dump truck

An Upstate man is charged with attempted murder after a wild chase involving a stolen dump truck. Thursday morning, the Laurens County Sheriff's Office began pursuing a dump truck that had been stolen from Anderson County.

The driver kept trying to flee and crossed into Newberry County. That's where Sheriff's Office deputies and Newberry City Police officers picked up on the chase. Stop sticks were deployed and eventually the truck ran out of the road and gut stuck in the front yard of a business.

The suspect, 40 year old Kevin Michael Riley of Honea Path was then taken into custody. He's charged with two counts of attemped murder, failure to stop for police, possession of a stolen vehicle and more.

There's been no details on injuries suffered in the incident. Riley will face additional charges in Anderson and Laurens Counties.
