
An Upstate man is facing charges after his 6 month old daughter was found dead inside a car. The Newberry County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic call in the Prosperity area, early Monday morning.

Deputies, learned that the child's father Colie Dawkins of Lyman had been allowed to take the baby to his home. Investigators say, Dawkins had called and berated the child's mother and threatened to harm the baby.
The vehicle Dawkins was driving was spotted around 2 AM at Highway 34 and I-26. Deputies say, the baby was unresponsive and was taken to a nearby hospital where life saving measures were performed, unsuccessfully. The Sheriff's Office says, the child showed no apparent signs of injury.
Dawkins is charged with unlawful conduct towards a child and a violation of the habitual offender act, more charges are pending.
