A Greenville man has been indicted for making threats towards a sitting federal judge.

The U.S. Department of Justice says 42 year old Alvin Bernard Parks sent a threatening letter specifically to the U.S. District Court Judge in South Carolina.

According to court records, Parks threatened to kill the judge or blow the courthouse up in the handwritten document. The return address on the letter was that of the Greenville County Detention Center where Parks was detained when the letter was sent it and had his name on it.

The FBI Columbia Field Office is handling the investigation and the case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorneys Office.
