Upstate man killed in police standoff identified

The Upstate man killed during a standoff with deputies has been identified. On Sunday evening, The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Simpsonville. They found the suspect 38 year old, Matthew David Snyder at the nearby intersection of Black Oak Court and Twin Falls Drive. A standoff ensued between the suspect and SWAT Team personnel, shots were then fired around 11 PM.

Snyder was shot multiple times during the fire fight, he was taken to Greenville Memorial where he later died due to injuries suffered in the incident. No Deputies were reportedly injured in the shoot-out. SLED is continuing to investigate the incident, which is standard practice for officer involved shootings.
