An Upstate man is out more than $2,000 after falling victim to a scam. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says the man reported that he scammed, Monday.

The victim reported getting a call from someone he thought was his grandson, saying he was in jail in Charleston and needed money. The man then sent the caller $875 and got what turned out to be a fake tracking number.

The victim got another call asking him to send over $1,400 more dollars and he complied. He sent the money and then called his grandson who told the victim, it was not him who called.
