An Upstate man is set to spend the next two decades behind bars. On Tuesday, 31 year old, Ronald Dean Mckinney III of Greenville was sentenced for armed robbery and assault with intent to commit sexual assault. The charges stem from an incident in 2019. Prosecutors say, Mckinney grabbed the female victim from behind on the Swamp Rabbit Trail near the Cleveland Street YMCA.
Mckinney then tried sexually assault the woman, she fought back and he then pulled a pistol. A witness who saw the attack called 911 and began screaming for help. At that time, Mckinney grabbed the victim's wallet and cell phone and fled the scene. The pistol was later found in Mckinney's house and the victim's DNA was found on the gun. Mckinney has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison.
