Upstate plays host to various State House Primary Elections

The primaries are coming up Tuesday and there are many races around the Upstate to be aware of, specifically for seats in the South Carolina State House. In Oconee County District 1 incumbent Bill Whitmire will face challenger Wally Sparks, a retired police chief. The District 4 race in Pickens County features Incumbent Davey Hiott, he's been challenged former U.S. Marine Matthew Kutilek.

Neal Collins is the incumbent in District 5 which represents Easley. Collins faces 2 up and comers in Dennis Bo Roberts and Clay Hamlett. Incumbent Jason Elliott will square off with Brett Brocat in the District 22 primary.

The District 25 seat is a crowded field on the Democratic ticket. Activist Bruce Wilson, Social Worker Adriene Atkinson, Pastor Wendell Jones, Fast Food Manager Justin Bennett, and Educator Derrick Quarles are all vying for the seat.

The polls will be open for primary voting from 7am-7 pm Tuesday and South Carolina does require proof of ID to vote.
