
Another Upstate school district is adding weapons detection systems to its schools. District officials in Cherokee County say, that every school in the county will have a weapons detection system and the high schools will have multiple systems. Cherokee is following suit after Greenville County added weapons detection systems to its schools over the summer.

Officials say, every entry point will have the systems, middle and high school students will walk through the detection systems, elementary students will not. Visitors to Cherokee County schools will be required to go through the detection systems, as well.
Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller appaluded the move calling it "pro-active". The portable systems are expected to be in place next month and will also be used at sporting events in the district
