Upstate student charged after threat towards school & another student

A student at an Upstate school has been charged after a threatening video surfaced online over the weekend. The Greenville Police Department was called after a student at Hughes Academy made a threat towards another student and the school. Officials say, the threat was made on a recorded video that was posted to social media and included a weapon.

Tim Waller, the Media Relations Director for the Greenville County School District says, that the student was not at school today and is being recommended for expulsion. Waller also says, parents of students at Hughes were notified on Sunday and a heavier law enforcement presence is on campus today as a security measure, although no additional threats were made.

The 12 year old student is charged with making threats towards a school, possession of a gun by a minor and unlawful communication.
