An Upstate woman is in custody after being charged with the kidnapping of a one year old child. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Franklin Avenue Monday evening, in an effort to locate 54 year old, Christie Ward.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Ward's husband who claimed he did not know where she was, however deputies could see her in the backyard of the home.
The husband refused to cooperate and was handcuffed. Ward was then found with the missing child and was taken into custody. The one year old child is said to be a family member of Ward's and had went missing over the weekend.
Ward is charged with kidnapping and is being held without bond in Spartanburg County.
