An Upstate woman is set to spend at least a decade behind bars after a shooting at a Seneca apartment complex in 2024. Officials announced Monday that 57 year old, Sheryl Deneise Johnson has been sent to prison is connection to a shooting at Seneca Gardens Apartments.
Johnson was convicted of Attempted Murder, 1st degree burglary and a weapons violation. Investigators say she and a co-defendant went to Seneca Gardens to confront the victim after some sort of "social media beef".
Court records show Johnson pushed her way into the apartment and fired at the victim, striking him above the eyebrow. Johnson was initially sentenced to 15 years in prison, but that sentence will be suspended once she serves 10 years.
Prosecutors have objected and are filing a motion to try and get a stiffer sentence for Johnson. A court date will be held at a later date for the motion to be heard.
