One person is dead after a house fire in Oconee County over the weekend. The fatal blaze happened in the northern Oconee town of Salem, as firefighters from Salem and Camp Oak Fire Departments responded to a home on Grant Mill Road around 4:30 Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze and found a man dead inside the house. The Coroner's Office has since identified the man as 61 year old, Gary Bruce Green of Salem.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine Green's cause of death. The cause of the fatal fire is under investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, SLED has been called into assist.
