A Western North Carolina man will spend time behind bars for molesting a teenage girl. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says, 47 year old David Raymond Richards of Fletcher, has been convicted of taking liberties with a minor.
The charge came after a 13 year old girl told her family therapist that Richards had inappropriately touched her in 2021. An investigation was launched and Richards fled to New York, he was later extradited back to North Carolina to be prosecuted.
Richards will spend at the least the next 16 months behind bars and could be sentenced to up to 29 months in prison.
