A substitute teacher in the Upstate's largest school district is under fire after she allegedly issued a controversial survey. Area activism group, Fighting Injustice Together or FIT says they were contacted by concerned parents of students at Travelers Rest High School.
The concern stemmed from a survey that included questions that they felt were racially charged. One of the questions asked if politicians cared more about black people than the average citizen. All of the questions had to do with issues of race and some had sexual connotations.
FIT says the teacher also instructed students to lie about their age on the questionnaire, as the required age to take the survey was 18. The students that took it were on average, 16 years old.
FIT Leader Bruce Wilson says his group is asking the Greenville County School District to reprimand the substitute teacher in question.
