An Asheville man will spend at least the next two decades in prison after being convicted of a sex crime against a minor charge. The Buncombe County District Attorney's Office says 34 year old Christopher Murray Upshaw pleaded guilty last week to statutory rape of a minor under 15 years old.
The charge came after the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office and DSS began investigating reports that Upshaw was sexually assaulting a minor victim. He's been sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison and the max sentence is 29 years.
The District Attorney's Office says Upshaw was convicted of felony child abuse in 2011.
