A man who was part of the cast of the 1972 film Deliverance has died after a crash in Western North Carolina. The North Carolina Highway Patrol says the fatal wreck happened around 330 Wednesday afternoon on Highway 19 in Haywood County.
Troopers say a vehicle driven by 85 year old, Herbert Coward aka "Cowboy" was hit by a 16 year old driver. Coward and his passenger 78 year old, Bertha Brooks were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The 16 year old was transported to the hospital, there's no word on their condition. Coward played the toothless man in the film Deliverance which starred Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and Jon Voight.
