A Western North Carolina man is set to spend over a decade in federal prison for running a multi-million dollar log cabin building scheme. The U.S. Attorney's Office says 43 year old, Jason Nathaniel Speier of Arden orchestrated a scheme to defraud customers out of more than 2.5 million dollars.

Court records show, that Speier claimed to be a builder specializing in log cabin homes. Prosecutors claim that he falsely advertised and kept down payments from customers for himself without providing any service. The scheme targeted victims in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee making it a federal case.

Speier pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to just over 11 years in prison. There is no parole or early release in the federal system.
