A postal worker made a startling discovery Tuesday when making a delivery in Western North Carolina. The Asheville Police Department says a mail carrier found a loaded pistol at an apartment complex.
The carrier called police and told them that he saw the gun inside the unit's mailbox. Officers recovered the Browning .22 handgun and found a round in the chamber. The Asheville PD have not announced any arrests or charges from the incident.
Police want to remind the public the dangers of touching unknown guns when they are found, as they could be stolen or have been used in a crime.
