A Western North Carolina woman has been charged after a disabled family member was found dead last week. The Marion Police Department responded to a home for a welfare check, last Tuesday.
Officers were met by family members who did not have keys to the house, bit told them that a family member who requires 24 hour care was likely inside the home.
Officers gained entry into the home and found a woman later identified, as 27 year old Kristin Rutherford dead and nobody else was inside the home.
Rutherford's older sister, 34 year old Casie McCartha was the person responsible for her car. McCartha was located along with her three year old daughter last Thursday in Asheville and was taken into custody. The child was not harmed in the incident.
