Both the Greenville City Council and the Spartanburg City Council on Monday evening unanimously approved an extension on the mask ordinance that requires citizens to wear masks in various locations within their respective cities.
The unanimous vote extends the ordinance for an additional 60 days.
Mayor Knox White also reminding folks that masks or face coverings are also required to enter restaurants statewide under the governor's executive order.
The ordinance requires individuals to wear masks at grocery stores, pharmacies, commercial and retail stores, and laundromats, as well salons, barber shops, and spas.
Failure to comply with the ordinance can result in civil infraction and up to a $25 fine. Employees of these businesses who do not comply with the ordinance will also receive a civil infraction and up to a $100 fine.
