A local high school has launched an investigation after an antisemitic quote was published in the yearbook.

The Franklin Regional School District is dealing with backlash after an antisemitic quote was posted in the yearbook.

In a statement, the district says a senior is facing disciplinary action after the quote "minimized the number of deaths in the Holocaust and wished for more deaths in the Jewish community."

In fact, six million people died in the Holocaust.

The district says they became aware of the statement by concerned students. It considered republishing but that wasn't feasible, per local media reports.

In a statement, the district said, "The district immediately launched an investigation, and it was determined that the yearbook advisor was unaware of the meaning behind the statement, leading to its publication in the yearbook. The Franklin Regional School District does not condone this type of behavior, and there is no room for hate speech in our community."

They added that Franklin Regional is reviewing yearbook development and approval procedures going forward.
