Vice President Mike Pence said he would not quarantine after his chief of staff and four other top aides tested positive for the virus.

Because of the close nature of the Vice President’s working relationship with two of his COVID-positive aides — his bodyguard and his chief of staff — CDC guidelines require him to quarantine to reduce the risk of asymptomatic spread of the coronavirus, even though he has tested negative so far.

Despite negative test results, Pence and his wife are considered close contacts of the aides. This is based off of criteria from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
