South Carolinians aren’t sitting on the fence in regards to their opinions on President Trump’s first 100 days in office.

According to the latest Winthrop Poll, roughly 44 percent of South Carolinians approved of the President’s actions, while 43 percent were negative towards the President, a drop from February’s 53 percent approval.


Other South Carolina officials ranked similarly, with Governor Henry McMaster holding a 44 percent approval rating, Senator Tim Scot having 43 percent, and Lindsey Graham matching DOGE’s Elon Musk at just 35 percent approval.

An even greater party divide was also noted, with over 80 percent of both Republicans and Democrats agreeing the phrase “too extreme in its positions” describes the other well.

In regards to policy, illegal immigration is the most serious issue for Republicans, and taking care of the poor is the most serious for Democrats.

47 percent in total think the nation is on the wrong track.
Specifically, 69 percent of Republicans think the country Is on the right track, while 81 percent of Democrats say it’s on the wrong track.

The April 2025 Winthrop Poll was an online and telephone survey conducted and paid for by Winthrop University. The survey is a sample of 1,546 weighted adult residents of South Carolina collected between April 4th and 12th.
