Lawrence Wholesale LLC, based in CA, is recalling a limited quantity of Kroger brand frozen shrimp and shrimp products due to possible radioactive contamination. The company says Cesium-137, a radioactive material, may have contaminated the shrimp during preparation, packaging, or through unsanitary conditions.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Cesium-137 is used in radiation therapy and can increase the risk of cancer if ingested.
The affected frozen shrimp and shrimp cocktail products were sold at Kroger stores in 31 states, including SC, GA and TN. Kroger operates three stores in the Columbia, South Carolina area. Click HERE for product photos.
This is the second shrimp recall at Kroger. On Sunday, AquaStar of Seattle, WA recalled both raw and cooked shrimp for the same reason.
In a separate recall, Sprout Organics is expanding its September 16, 2025 recall of Sprout Organics® Sweet Potato, Apple, and Spinach baby food pouches due to potentially elevated lead levels. The 3.5-ounce pouches were sold at Walgreens and independent retailers in 28 states, including North Carolina.
