Hour 1 - On the first hour of Charlie James Show : Ralph Norman on SC Gov race, Cole Allen's not guilty plea in Trump attack, Iran tensions, & Democratic strategy analysis.

00:00 And a very uh good afternoon to you. Hope you had a fantastic weekend. Thank you for joining us right here on the program. Well, as you just heard, our governor series is going to continue this afternoon coming up at four o'clock. We're going to be speaking with Fifth District Congressman Ralph Norman about his bid to be the next governor of South Carolina. Now, this is going to be an important race. It really is. Because we've got so 00:29 much to do here in South Carolina. And I know it's crazy because everything that we have to do, listen, I want you to listen to this. Everything that we need to do here in South Carolina. 00:46 should have already been done. Everything should have been done by now. We should have had funding for roads. should have had funding for infrastructure. should have all of this stuff. Every remember most of the things that these people in the state legislature are running for. When they come glad handing you asking for your vote, why don't you ask them? Why haven't you done this before? 01:18 Why, yeah, I'm state representative, Fawkes and Mouth, and I'm going to do something about our roads. Well, hell, you've been in Columbia for 30 years. Why haven't you done something about them yet? That's what I want to know. You've known that our bridges were absolute garbage for at least a decade now. Why haven't you, why didn't you do it? No, no, no, no, no, can't do that. Can't do that. 01:45 That doesn't satisfy our Democrat overlords, which is what they have. And that's the only way you can explain it. Democrat overlords is what these rhinos have in Columbia. That would not make them happy. A well-run state would not make them happy. They're more in the line of, let's have a whole lot of chaos and let's do all of this spending $330 million in earmark. 02:15 They built, well I don't know if they're building them, but at very least they're buying them. 02:24 They're buying dwellings. I don't know if they're homes. I don't know if they're cabins. I don't know what they are. But they're dwellings so that tired artists can take a rest. Oh, I can't wait. My wife's an artist. My wife is tired. We're gonna go, I wanna see what this is like. And when I do, I'm gonna live stream it. 02:53 I want you to I want to put in the application. We're going to find out where these things are and we're going to go and my wife is going to have a rest. Literally. That's crazy. 03:08 Wait a minute, hold on. Where are the restful destination for talk show host? Can I be considered an artist? Can I please? What about you? You folks who work at BMW. You folks who work anywhere in the upstate. Do you get a special place that you can go and rest? No, but the artist, Charlie. Oh, Charlie. 03:38 We've got to think about the artist, Charlie. It's the artist. That's what we got to think about. Well, that was that was something like three million dollars. Ridiculous. Let's go to John in Spartanburg and talk to him. John, welcome. Hey, Charlie, how doing? I'm great, bud. What's up? I got one question for you. OK, you go. You don't go get your vaccine. 03:59 I'm gonna roll my arm up. I'm gonna get the the hantavirus vaccine. I'm gonna put on my mask. I'm gonna do social distance. I can't wait for Walmart to put those arrows up. Let me know which which aisle I can I can go down. it's gonna be crazy John. did you know this in the past since last week? Do you know how many articles have been written about hantavirus? 100,000. oh 04:30 taking it. Oh yeah absolutely it's a coming it's coming I appreciate it. 04:39 There you go. There you go. Appreciate it, buddy. Thank you. Oh, yeah. We'll talk about hantavirus coming up in just a little bit. But some of the big news of the day is that attempted Trump assassin Cole Allen has pled not guilty. In federal court, and I'm going to tell you something, I'll be honest with you. I don't blame him. I don't blame him. I plead not guilty to. 05:08 That's exactly. And I tell you, Jay, you said make the government work for it. Yeah, exactly right. Make them work. Make them prove the case. Now, do I think he did? Oh, absolutely. That's how do I think he's guilty of sin? Absolutely. But here's what I know. Here's what I know is like, hey, we might we might just get a whole jury full of never Trumpers. And they're going they're going to quit me and I'm going to be back out on the street. That's what they're planning. 05:38 But listen to this, this is crazy. When I tell you the Democrats are nuts, this is exactly what I'm talking about. A new poll came out that said that 42 % of Democrats believe that the Butler assassination attempt on Donald Trump was fake. 42%, that's almost half. Almost half of Democrats believe that Butler, Pennsylvania was fake. 06:08 by would-be assassin Thomas Crooks. That's according to a YouGov poll. 34 % believe the recent attempt by Cole Allen at the White House Correspondents' Dinner was also staged. 26 % said that the same thing about Ryan Routh's attempt at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. These people. These numbers were lower among respondents who identified as independents. 06:35 21 % of independents believed that Butler was staged, 23 % and 14 % believed the others were staged respectively. Among Republicans, 7 % believed that the Butler attempt was fake, 13 % believed that the White House correspondence dinner was fake, and 7 % believed that Ruth was staged as well. That survey polled 1,000 Americans and was conducted between April 28th to May 4th. 07:04 42 % of Democrats believe that Butler Pennsylvania was fake. Oh, okay. There you go. See, that's what we're dealing with right there. That's the craziness. That's the insanity that we have to convey. And I tell you what, listen, as long as Cole Allen has got a jury going on in Washington, DC, yeah. 07:34 I don't blame them. I don't blame them for pleading not guilty. I would have too. But we ride back. It's the Charlie James show news talk 98 9 W or D the voice of the Carolinas. All right. Welcome back to the program. Let's go to Jeff in Hendersonville and talk to him. Jeff. Welcome. How are you? Hey Charlie. I'm doing well, sir. All right. So, uh, taking lunch kind of late here. I'm not going home yet. Normally I'll call about five or six. There you go. 08:03 just couldn't help but hearing about the polls and the conspiracy there are people that they call the vaccination attempts are staged um and i mean i get it there's a healthy distrust of the government out there and false flags are are nothing new but what i find hilarious is that this deep distrust of the government that's coming from people who will say you know this is all fake the government that that that we can't trust them 08:32 But we're going to need to vote for more authoritarianism and give the government more control over our lives. Yeah. Our side of the government is trustworthy. We can trust them. Exactly. Yeah. And we're the good guys. You're exactly right, Jeff. I appreciate it, buddy. Yeah, they're the good guys. I tell you coming up in just a few minutes, I'm going to tell you what they're doing in Virginia now. 08:59 And I gotta admit, I'm a little jealous of what these Democrats are doing in Virginia. 09:09 Because I wish our side would fight like their side fights. Good night. They are pulling out all the stops in Virginia. Us? Nothing. We're like little newborn kittens. Just little, just precious. No scraps. Eyes aren't open. 09:38 I'm coming up in a minute. I'm going to tell you what Representative Neil Collins said about Louisiana versus Calais. And this will tell you everything. This should tell you absolutely everything that's going on in our state legislature. Let's go to Bonnie and Greer. Bonnie, welcome. 10:00 Okay. 10:06 Yeah. 10:14 So, I mean, yeah, it's kind of weird, though, but I mean, overall, it costs us more money to create a penny than the penny's worth. But it's costing me a 10:27 Do you have a big jar of pennies, Bonnie? 10:33 yeah that might be my way to get somewhere i don't hate that's a question though bonnie can you still turn your pennies in for cash since we're not making a minute 10:45 I don't even. I understand. appreciate it, Bonnie. Thank you very, very much. All Well, was a all week in long we waited for this response from Iran about what's going on. President Trump is going to have to and I know what he's doing. He's trying to exhaust all of the diplomatic avenues that he can. 11:14 And I think he's well aware of what ultimately is gonna have to happen. 11:19 but he's also aware of what the media is going to say when that happens. So if, if, if. 11:30 If Donald Trump 11:33 comes up with some negotiation with Iran, that would be a great thing. But it's not going to happen. 11:43 Iran is a nation of liars. It's virtually in their DNA. Virtually in their DNA. How much do they lie? Well, President Trump got a response back from Iran on the latest peace deal. Listen to what he said. 12:12 After reading that piece of garbage they sent us, I didn't even finish reading it. They said, I'm not going to waste my time reading it. I would say it's one of the weakest right now. It's on life support. They understand. These are all medical people. Dr. Ahn's life support is not a good thing. Do you agree? Diagnostic. I would say the ceasefire is on massive life support, where the doctor walks in and says, sir, your loved one has approximately a 1 % chance. 12:42 So that was President Trump today in the White House. But wait a minute. What happened to all these people? Oh, wait a minute, Iran, they don't have nuclear ambitions? Are you kidding me? No, they don't. They don't have nuclear. Well, then why are they so anxious to hold on to it? Why are they fighting literally to the death? 13:10 to keep their supply of enriched uranium. That's what I wanna know. Well, anybody with any sense at all knows exactly what they want. Ultimately, now I want you to think about this, because uh Marco Rubio said something about it last week, but it's true. If you think the price of oil is high now because of the Strait of Hormuz, I want you to imagine what the price of oil would be. 13:39 with a nuclear Iran. 13:43 That's hard to imagine just how much of a threat that nation is. 13:53 So they're not willing to give up. They want to scale back their control of the Gulf of Hormuz. No, it should go away. The the Strait of Hormuz should be run internationally. 14:06 Now again, we don't get a whole lot of oil from there. It's mainly Europe that gets their oil from there. So Europe needs to start ponying up, but they won't. They never do. 14:19 They want to come along and they want to reap the benefits as usual of all of our hard work. This is another case in point where President Trump has gone it completely all on his own. And when I say on his own, I mean with JD Vance, with Marco Rubio and others. The United States has gone on it, gone on on our own. These people aren't going to help. But boy, they're going to be there with their hand out when it opens up. 14:48 They're gonna be the ones that are reaping all of the benefits. So what is gonna have to happen with us is we're just gonna have to have a little more patience. And listen, I know, patience is running out. When you go by the gas station, you see $4.30 gas. You start to wonder when is it gonna hit that $5 mark? That $5 mark is going to be disastrous for the midterm. 15:18 Absolutely disastrous. President knows this. He's aware of all of this. Everybody's in his ear every single day. So something's going to have to happen. It's going to have to have to happen quick or we're just going to be, well, and just kind of kiss the midterms goodbye. 15:38 uh There's a good chance that the Democrats, even though that chance is shrinking little by little, there's a good chance that the Democrats will take back the House. 15:50 come November. Now the Senate, that looks pretty safe. 15:56 But in order for any of this to get done, we have got to have some movement in the United States Senate. 16:06 But because you know what John Thune is, John Thune. 16:12 is Iran. 16:15 John Thune is Iran and he is the guy that is blocking all of the stuff that is supposed to be going through the Senate, just like Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. It's because of him that that is bottlenecked. coming up at five o'clock, I got an interesting story about John Thune and just why John Thune might be against the Save America Act. This is fascinating. Let's go to John in Sparkle City. How you doing, John? 16:49 Okay? 17:09 Yeah. know it's higher, but you're either going to pay for the gas you're using now and you go through your gas twice as fast and not get your money's worth or pay for ethanol-free gas and make your gas last longer. Do you know how much of an improvement on gas mileage you get with non-ethanol? Exactly a lot. Is it uh lot? mean, that was a legitimate question. I'm going to look that up and find it out. John, I appreciate it. Thank you very much. 17:37 I when we get back is redistricting dead here in South Carolina is the Charlie James show news talk 98 9 W or D the voice of the Carolinas. We are less than half an hour away from the governor series with Congressman Ralph Norman that's coming up at four. Let's go to Christina at Traveler in Travelers Rest. How you doing Christina? 18:02 playing pickleball because we have not played in a while of the courts where we play are in the very bad shape right now and we're waiting for them to give resurfaced uh... okay so so at part of your job and care is not the one you hold have to familiarize yourself with with that liberal garbage that's a uh left-wing media is putting out there right and that's 18:32 we did you take forty two percent of everybody a forty two percent of democrats believe that butler went fake those were democrats democrat and yet i'd get that and land we thought we'd come out astonishment that i'd get that same left-wing media jane believe they just believe i ran dip up hadn't doesn't have a in rich uranium that they're not 19:01 Iran? To my astonishment, they honor, so I am, and I can't believe that the left-wing media is propagandizing these people's minds to believe that the whole idea of Iran enriching uranium is all a hoax. You know what though, Christina? They didn't believe it was a hoax under Joe Biden. 19:27 they didn't believe it was a hoax under brockerson obama they didn't believe it was a hoax under uh... bill clinton it's only because donald trump is doing something about it that they now believe it's a hoax it's always good it's all got to do with donald trump period that's it so i know i feel the same way i appreciate it started john in spartan berg john welcome george or a quick take a call yes you remember when i 19:57 governor mcmaster declared april uh... air book whatever yes a pro american heritage no arab american heritage month yes yes sir can you ask mister norman if he's going to reverse that it's not what he is it is a thing though uh... he won't need to because the only said that april and he did this after april by the way april was a arab april twenty twenty six 20:27 there was actually a guy year on it so that would have to be renewed next year and i'm pretty sure the next governor will not do that i'll tell you by a lot of the you know i don't know what people here in the united states never in the stuff but the more i'll see these Muslims get in the elect official all yeah it's like it's scary that we're going to come in next thing it should you it should scare you it should terrify you john appreciate it thank you very much it should scare 20:57 This is going to fight. Did anybody stand up? Did anybody stand up in the House of the Senate here in South Carolina and go, excuse me, uh Governor McMaster, why are you declaring April Arab American Heritage Month? you just give us a good explanation of this? What prompted you to do that? You see, I'm pretty sure Henry McMaster wasn't sitting around in his study. you know what, Peggy, hey, Peggy, I got me an idea. 21:27 Tell me what you think about this. We gonna name it April, Arab American Heritage History Month. That's what I'm gonna do. I just thought of that off the top of my head. Oh Henry, the only thing off the top of your head is hair. So, yeah, no, somebody put that bug in his ear. Somebody did. 21:51 He just think of this stuff on his own, although he does have plenty of time. redistricting is a big thing here in South Carolina right now. I'm going to be honest with you and I hope I hope I'm wrong about this. I hope I'm wrong. But I don't believe we're going to have redistricting here in South Carolina. I don't think we're going to do it. I don't think our state legislature is going to do that. 22:18 I want to read you something that this is from this from Neil Collins. He posted this, I believe it was this weekend over on Facebook. ah So this whole thing came about because of Louisiana versus Callas, but the Supreme Court said you cannot draw congressional districts based on race. No, that's unconstitutional. So once you listen to what 22:45 Neil Collins said, representative, state representative Neil Collins, he said, first, I generally agree with the callous decision. Oh, you generally agree. Oh, that's a, oh, I generally agree with it. That means you don't agree with all of it. And he goes on. Intentional use of race should not be the predominant factor of drawing political lines. The court made that clear, that partisan considerations, communities of interest, 23:15 Incumbent protection and compactness are legitimate factors for lawmaking, for mapmaking rather. Then he said, listen to this. He said, I also think the dissent in Callas did an excellent job explaining the history behind the Voting Rights Act and the protections afforded to black Americans. I encourage people to read that. That's the dissent. We know who wrote the dissent. 23:44 We know the radical left. So it seems to me like Neil Collins was more impressed from the radical left in the Supreme Court than he was with the majority. Now that doesn't shock me one little bit knowing Neil Collins the way we do. That doesn't shock me. Let's go to Jim in Greenville. Jim, welcome. 24:10 yet the uh... you need to talk about all the people that have been led into this country and they're fighting it to the nail just for just for voters okay yes i mean cherry mandarin do whatever they want to do elison i mean construction i know he legal to have no people that are illegal and i know that probably think that everybody in your audience knows at least one illegal what's our obligation that we turn them in dot term people i know we have a higher number 24:39 what do we do what's what what is our legal obligation i know what's wrong and what i start they go get a mall right you know i feel like it i'm struggling with the morally i've already got ice is hotline to do it but you know what what is everybody on the schedule hector he's all right or this one's all right well let me ask you something i'm going to learn or would you turn somebody in if you knew that they robbed a convenience store 25:10 absolutely would you turn it in every body in the office in your in your audience knows at least one this illegal but you put what do you know what i had not that i know of no okay not but most people you would tell me i don't know will have to see well have to see appreciated him thank you let's go to ever in spartan berg ever welcome that you're doing there and then what's up man i'm a gala all your listeners are to get on the 25:40 extra whatever the platform is contact dot drop until i'm all about all this cover up here in south carolina bill illegal immigration and uh... no-cash bar uh... medicare fraud everybody's covered up they're just making a monkey out of him because it is yourself to our they're doing everything is against what he's trying to copy you know if you're right about that ever appreciate it you're right about that now here's henry mcmaster 26:12 Henry McMaster is the governor of South Carolina for one reason and one reason only. 26:20 Donald Trump took Nikki Haley out of the governor's mansion, made her the United States ambassador to the UN. That way, now this is a political favor. I'm not the only one seeing this. Everybody says this. This is a political favor from Donald Trump to Henry McMaster. I'm gonna get, Henry, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna get Nikki Haley out of there and you're gonna be the governor of South Carolina. It's gonna be great. 26:49 And that's how Henry got in. 26:53 Henry McMaster would not be the governor without Donald Trump. So when Donald Trump calls and says, Henry, we gotta do something about redistricting, what does Henry McMaster do? He takes out the knives, stabs Donald Trump in the back. 27:11 Literally. That's what he did. 27:16 He did that. 27:20 when he said no to bringing up a special session of the house to talk about redistricting. He said no, not gonna do it, absolutely not gonna do it. Doesn't wanna do it, doesn't wanna do redistricting. Because Henry too has been compromised by the left. When we get back, I'm gonna show you how we should be fighting. And for this we're gonna have to look at Virginia. 27:46 is the Charlie James show, News Talk 98.9, WORD, the voice of the Carolinas. There is something that I admire about the Democrats. Believe it or not, there is one thing that I really admire about the Democrats. When they want something, they all band together in unison and they go after it. They go after it. 28:15 full steam ahead and they don't quit. They fight. If they get kicked down, they stand back up and they go and they find another way to fight. Republicans, they don't even fight. Republicans in our state house, they don't fight. Not the Rinos. There's no fight in them. 28:39 So the next time you hear an ad or you hear anything from any of these rhinos going, I'll fight, you haven't fought anything. You don't fight anything. Democrats know how to fight. Maybe you ought to take a lesson from them. 28:57 So in Virginia, you know, they had that, they took a 51, this is literally the truth, a 51-49 state, Democrat to Republican, 51 to 49 % Democrat. That is about as close as you can possibly get. 29:19 and their district map showed it. It was six Democrat, five Republican. Again, that's about as close as you can get, but it wasn't good enough. Wasn't good enough for the Democrats. They wanted more. So they redistricted, and now it was 10-1, or it was under that map. Well, the state Supreme Court came in and they struck down that map. 29:49 because one of the provisions in the, first of all, they went around the state constitution. They carved out part of the state constitution and they just bypassed it. But there was another requirement. 30:06 It requires the Virginia State Constitution requires an intervening election between two legislative votes on such an amendment. So if you put up the vote for an amendment and it fails, you've got to wait until an election happens. And then after that election, you can come along and put the amendment back up. You can't just throw out an amendment. It fails. You throw out an amendment again. 30:34 Well, that's exactly what they did. So what they are doing now in Virginia is what Democrats always do. They're trying to redefine what an election is. Exactly. They're trying to redefine what an election is in Virginia. 30:56 Now they're good at redefining things. Now they can't define a woman. But you remember when they redefined what a vaccine was? you remember when they redefined what a recession was? Do you remember all of that that they did? So now they're trying to redefine what an election is. But that's not the worst thing they're doing. Now what they're looking at in Virginia is going back and lowering, are you ready for this? 31:26 I don't think you're ready. They're looking back at going and reducing the mandatory retirement age for the Virginia Supreme Court. And they want to make it retroactive. So in other words, they're going to find the age of all the members of the Virginia Supreme Court who were against this election or against this map. They're going to lower 31:56 the retirement age and then they're going to make it retroactive and kick these people off of the Virginia Supreme Court. Then they're going to come along, they're going to get some very, very ah 32:10 friendly Supreme Court justices in Virginia. Man, you gotta admit, I'm telling you, these folks, they don't quit. All right, get ready because our Governor Series is coming up next. We're gonna be talking with Congressman Ralph Norman. That's just in just a few minutes. We'll see you then. This is the Charlie James Show, News Talk 98.9, WOD, The Voice of the Carolinas.
