On Tuesday, German officials canceled the world's largest beer festival, Oktoberfest, due to coronavirus concerns. “We have decided the risk is simply too great,” Bavarian Premier Markus Soeder told Reuters. “It hurts; it is a huge shame." Some areas in Germany have started to relax lockdown measures introduced last month to slow the spread of the coronavirus, but big events are banned until August 31. Oktoberfest was scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4.
