The comedian and former-late night host appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” this week and showed off how well his face was healing post-surgery following a scary gasoline fire in November 2022.

“This is a brand new face,” Leno told the host. “It is. It’s unbelievable.”

Leno said he was working on one of his many collectible cars when the accident occurred and even tossed in some humorous tall tale details to the story.

“I was working on a car and I got a face full of gasoline and it caught fire,” he said. “I had been eating a Flamin’ Hot Dorito and when I bit into it, it set my face on fire.”

On a more serious note he did recount how the accident gave him third degree burns and then jokingly pointed to his chin and said, “You’d think there’d be a zipper here or something but no.”

“Only for the second time in my career am I the new face of comedy. I got it once in the ‘80s and now I get it again,” he jested.

Leno explained the accident to TODAY last year, saying, “The fuel line was clogged, so I was underneath it. It sounded clogged and I said, ‘Blow some air through the line,’ and so he (friend Dave Killackey working on car) did.”

“And suddenly, boom, I got a face full of gas,” Leno said. “And then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.”

Leno eventually spent 10 days at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.
