Posting on his Instagram account on Meg's birthday, December 10, Jack offered up a solo Polaroid of his ex-wife and former drummer for The White Stripes standing in front of a plain red wall wearing a leopard print blouse. Born in 1974, today Meg turns 50 years old.
White captioned the photo, “HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY to my big sister, the great Meg White. There’s only one of you Meggo, they broke the mold. You’re still inspiring people, including me. Love you so much.”
The White Stripes received their first nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, 20 years after their arrival on the scene. At the time, a debate continued with fans and fellow artists -- including Jack White himself -- coming to the defense of Meg's brilliantly simplistic style.
Jack and Meg White founded The White Stripes in 1997, the same year Meg learned to play the drums on her high school friend Jack Gillis' (Jack White) drum set. The duo would go on to release six studio albums together between 1999 through 2007 before finally calling it quits in 2011.
Jack White is currently on the road celebrating his GRAMMY-nominated 2024 solo album No Name with a global tour making stops in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and North America through May 2025. Grab your tickets right HERE and take a look at the full list of scheduled dates.
