The couple's officiant and friend, Carson Daly, gave the latest scoop on the big day while co-hosting the TODAY show on Tuesday. Daly told viewers he encouraged the couple to write their own vows months before the wedding and while it took some convincing, they both showed up with next level vows on the special day.

"I worked on it [the wedding] for months, with them and without them, to get the ceremony just how they wanted it," The Voice host shared. "I went to them months ago and said, 'I think you guys should write your own vows, we shouldn't just do the repeat after me.'" They were really reluctant to do that.

"At the wedding, Gwen starts and she wrote this [speech] saying, 'Since I was a little girl, blah blah blah' and she crushes [it] — not a dry eye in the church," Carson continued. "It was so perfect that I said to Blake when she was done, 'Top that, buddy.'"

Little did Carson know, Blake was about to top it... in his own Country singer-songwriter sorta way.

"Guitar comes in frame, stool, next thing you know, he wrote her a song. He sings her a song, while he's crying, that he wrote specifically for her. 'Reach the Star,' I think it was called," Daly said. "Not a dry eye in the house. That was really a highlight."

The wedding took place July 3 at a chapel Shelton built specifically for their wedding on his Oklahoma farm. The couple kept the event very intimate with only 40 guests, including Stefani's three kids.

"It was very, very special," Daly concluded. "It was incredible to be a part of such an important moment in their lives. The ceremony was a perfect... It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is and as Country and down-home and fun as Blake is. They just work, they're an unlikely couple.... they're like if you mixed delicious fried chicken with a glass of champagne... it works."
