This week, On Point with Juandolyn Stokes (OPWJS) welcomed doctors and advocates for our 2nd panel discussion on The Criminalization of Black and Brown Doctors. We held our 1st panel in February after receiving calls from several doctors who shared stories of Black and Brown, mature, highly skilled, financially well-off doctors being investigated and convicted on federal charges.

After our 1st discussion aired, our Executive Producer, Angela Greene was inundated with calls from doctors from across the country sharing similar stories of how they too had been indicted, investigated, sent to federal prison, or were on track to report to prison.

OPWJS reached out to the government including the DOJ, DEA, and the CDC to get their response to these accusations, but we got no response.

It appears that only specific doctors are targeted for these manufactured charges and the root cause appears to money. According to advocates for Louisiana United International (LIU), who have been advocating on behalf of doctors for about 5 years, the government manipulates legal statutes and codes to attack doctors.

Several listeners who were also members of the medical community called in to share their experiences with the government and reported that this is a legitimate issue in the medical community. As proof, LIU sued the U.S. government, and the United Nations agreed these actions are violation of doctors human rights.
