Speaking with Audacy’s Mercedes and J.C., Avril regaled the two with a hilarious tale about her neighbor. “My neighbor has a donkey,” she admitted. As she tried to get words out in between laughs, she said she loses it in laughter whenever she hears it “hee-haw.”

“I’m in tears in my house when I hear the donkey and am like, ‘this is so cool,’” she said. “I love it.”

The donkey isn’t the only animal that Avril gets to interact with on a daily basis. “I can also see whales from my house!” She exclaimed. “I saw a whale from my house and I see dolphins all the time.”

On the music front, Lavigne has a busy 2022 coming up. The year is highlighted by the release of her seventh studio album, Love Sux, which is set for a February 25th release and was a long time coming.

Lavigne wrote “a ton of songs” during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required her to take some safety measures while recording the album. “I had a mask on in the studio,” she said with a laugh when describing the experience.

At the same time, Love Sux will hold extra special meaning for Avril when it’s released. “This is really special here because it marks the 20th anniversary of my first record,” she said.

Lavigne is set to perform at the pop-punk festival of the year as she’ll be playing all three dates of the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas. She already has detailed plans on how she’ll be spending her day. If for any reason she has a plus one, we would LOVE to accompany her.

“For the festival I’ll for sure just be walking around and drinking beer backstage, chatting with the bands and watching them side stage,” she said. “Then I’ll go up on stage, play my set, get back off stage, drink some more beer, just have fun!
