Hilaria Baldwin returned to Instagram with an apology after the recent controversy involving claims she misrepresented her heritage.

The 37-year-old mom of five took a month-long break from social media after it was discovered that she was actually born Hillary Hayward-Thomas and raised in Boston, not Mallorca, Spain as many people were led to believe.

“I’ve spent the last month listening, reflecting, and asking myself how I can learn and grow. My parents raised my brother and me with two cultures, American and Spanish, and I feel a true sense of belonging to both,” Baldwin captioned a family photo.

She added, “The way I’ve spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained - I should have been more clear and I'm sorry. I'm proud of the way I was raised, and we’re raising our children to share the same love and respect for both.”

Baldwin ended her post by stating, “Being vulnerable and pushing ourselves to learn and grow is what we've built our community on, and I hope to get back to the supportive and kind environment we’ve built together.”

In December, she addressed the controversy in a video posted to Instagram confirming that she is a "white girl" born in Boston.

After news of her true roots broke, she claimed she never read the multiple Hola! profiles that identified her as Spanish. Baldwin also said she found it "disappointing" that her biography on the website of her agency, the Creative Artists Agency, stated that she was born in Mallorca, Spain, reported People Magazine.

Her biography has since been changed amid the controversy.

Baldwin tied the knot with “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live” actor Alec Baldwin back in 2012.

Together the couple have 5 children, the youngest of which is 5 months old.
