LISTEN NOW: The Osbournes Podcast | Bill Hader...as Ozzy?! Osbournes' Movie Update & Unforgettable Film Experiences
After news surfaced over four years ago regarding a film in the works based around the relationship dynamics between Ozzy Osbourne and his manager/wife, Sharon Osbourne, all has been quiet on that front ever since. But in a new episode of The Osbournes Podcast, the topic was broached again, and it seems everyone has an eye on who should fill each of the roles.
Within the conversation surrounding a possible (and let’s be honest, eventual) film adaptation of the life and times of Ozzy and Sharon, their son Jack wondered: “Who do you want to play you guys?” His sister Kelly was quick to choose British actress Florence Pugh (Oppenheimer, Don’t Worry Darling, Midsommar), saying she believes Florence “would do a fantastic [job].” Sharon agreed, saying, “I think Florence Pugh or the little girl from ‘Game of Thrones,’” referring to actress Maisie Williams.
“You know who I want to play dad,” Jack asked before quickly revealing Saturday Night Live and HBO’s Barry star, Bill Hader. “Everyone thinks I’m f***n’ crazy,” he adds, “until I show a side-by-side picture,” while highlighting Hader’s “ability to morph” into his characters with such ease.
Kelly wasn’t convinced though, saying she believes her dad, “needs to be played by an unknown.” Ozzy for one would likely agree, after stating back in 2022, “I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown” -- and after actually seeing a photo of Hader, his response was a bit more forceful: “F** off!” Sharon, however, says she believes Hader could actually “nail it.”
Of course, Ozzy had to get one final dig in regarding the project, saying after all of the talk and planning stages are finally completed, “By the time we finish this film, I’ll be dead!”
